Hi, I’m Jacky and I have been making mosaics for over 20 years, and have been teaching in Edinburgh for the past 3 years. I have now returned to my lovely home in the heart of Exeter.
Whether you are exploring mosaic making for the first time or you are more experienced and looking for inspiration, I hope you'll find just what you need, right here!
Take part in relaxed and fun workshops at my lovely home, Hampton House, in central Exeter.
Most workshops are suitable for beginners and all are based on principles of learning new skills, enjoyment, sharing and well-being.
I also provide sessions for community groups, in your own location.

I offer evening sessions at Hampton House for people to work on their own projects, at their own pace, with my guidance and support.
Run in 4 week sets, each session is two hours, informal and fun, with always a tea break to keep you going!

Most workshops are suitable for beginners. To learn mosaic cutting you need to be able to hold a set of mosaic cutters – they’re not heavy, and they do the cutting work for you, but some hand flexibility is needed. That said, I have worked with people with arthritis who have managed well. And – mosaics can be made without any cutting at all. If someone wishes to attend who has specific needs, please do contact me to see what’s possible.

Workshops are held in my lovely home, a 10 minute walk from Exeter town centre. There is no free parking close by, although if you car share I can arrange a parking voucher. If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is Exeter Central – it’s a 20min walk from here.

There are steps up to my front door. Unfortunately my house isn’t wheelchair accessible. There is a toilet on the ground floor. Let me know if you have specific access needs.

There are places close by to pick up lunch, and a lovely park over the road.

Absolutely! I will have available coffee, a range of teas (including herbal) and soft drinks. Plus biscuits, of course! Let me know if you have specific requirements.

Throughout the workshop I will guide you on how to complete each stage on time, including grouting (when appropriate). If you follow the guidance you will finish on time.

Not if you follow my safety instructions! There is a small risk when cutting mosaic tiles of nicks to the skin and if care isn’t taken pieces can fly up. However, I do guide you through this, and provide safety goggles. Gloves are also provided when working with stained glass.
